I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Advanon (Zürich) in Jan 2018
Interview
The interview had a hangout stage, a technical task related to the job requirements and a face to face interview on their premises (I met three team leads, HR and the CTO).
The interviews went on fast and smooth. Every single person I interacted with was very professional.
I felt like "home". The team is smart, young, fun, dedicated. They were open, transparent and flexible. Projects are interesting and challenging, they span over multiple programming languages. Is the kind of place were everything is at max speed. Go for it if you have it in your blood to be the best in your field.
I recommend the company with all my heart. You go read ex-Google Steve Yegge's article "Why I left Google to join Grab" and you understand that Advanon is the kind of tech startup you want to quit Google for.
So one last note, because you will ask yourself "then how come you did not accept their offer". There are some private projects in my life that would prevent me give Advanon that "extra-mile" they truly deserve. Remember those cool times in your life when you do something out of passion and suddenly you realise you spent 12 hours on it, but it felt like 5 minutes. I was not in a position to do so at this stage of my life and would have not been beneficial for both parties. It was a tough decision for me and I would be more than happy to cross paths again with these guys in the future.
Hi there, I'm very happy to hear you had a positive interview experience. We really strive to make the process efficient, transparent, and enjoyable for all parties. Your detailed feedback really helps me to see what worked from your view. Very useful - thank you. And do get in touch should you reconsider...it sounds like the team thought you were a solid fit!
