Executive Director (West Florida Division] Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at AdventHealth Corporate (Tampa, FL) in July 2025

      Interview

I interviewed for a senior leadership position within AdventHealth’s West Florida Division, completing nine in-person and virtual interviews over three months. The individual conversations were engaging, and the leaders I met clearly cared about the organization’s mission and values. The overall process, however, showed significant issues with coordination and communication. Some interviews were scheduled with only a day or two of notice, while others were planned several weeks in advance, which created a sense of inconsistency and disorganization. Several required me to take PTO and rearrange existing priorities to accommodate. At times the process felt repetitive, as I was asked to meet again with people I had already interviewed with. The sequence of interviews also felt haphazard, with a full day C-suite panel occurring relatively early in the process and several additional meetings added later without clear purpose or progression. Some sessions were rescheduled at the last minute or began significantly late, which contrasted with how pivotal the role was described to be. Despite multiple assurances of a final update “within days,” weeks passed without any communication. Follow-up emails went unanswered, and the only notice I received that the process had concluded was an automated HR message indicating the position had been closed. For a role of this scope and seniority, the lack of organization and professional courtesy was disappointing. It left the impression of internal silos and misalignment, which was surprising for an organization that emphasizes whole-person care and values-driven leadership. Prospective candidates should be aware that the interview process can be lengthy and loosely coordinated, with minimal communication once interviews conclude. Those considering executive or director-level roles should approach the process with patience and plan accordingly. I continue to respect the individuals I met and the mission of AdventHealth, but the experience highlighted a need to improve how executive-level hiring is managed. Candidates who invest months of time and preparation deserve timely communication, thoughtful coordination, and a human conclusion to the process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The interviews were generally conversational. The first few were more traditional behavioral-style discussions focused on leadership approach and prior experience. As the process progressed, the conversations became more strategic, centered on upcoming organizational priorities, division goals, and overall leadership/culture fit rather than structured questions.
