      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Adyen (Amsterdam) in Jan 2023

      Interview

I interview at Adyen for a Senior Software Engineer role. After an introductionary call focussed on a culture fit and Adyen's formula I got positive feedback and was presented a tech case where I had to make a project to showcase my skills. The case was not defined properly and left too much to the imagination; especially for the short amount that was requested to be spent on it. I did not hear back from the internal recruiter until 3 weeks after sending in my project, when they let me know the role was already full-filled. I can not recommend applying for a role at Adyen. Being asked to implement a vaguely described project which is too big for the time allocated to do properly (correct architecture, DI, test cases) and then getting turned down with after not hearing back for weeks just feels like a waste of time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      - What Adyen formula point resonates with you the best - Make use of the Foursquare API to build an app that shows a list of venues around the user’s location. Optionally, give the user a possibility to adjust the radius of interest. Decide yourself which venue details should be relevant to the user. You have full freedom on how to present data on screen. Submit the code that you consider to be final. We are going to check your implementation for understanding mobile platform specifics, correct UX choices, overall architecture design and code quality

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Adyen in Feb 2026

      Interview

Initial step was a 30 min screening call with someone from HR. They were very friendly. First time I didn't pass a screening call in years, make sure to study the 8 company values on their website beforehand.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Adyen (Madrid) in Nov 2025

      Interview

Madrid: good technical process, but POOR communication and lack of closure after final interview Pros: * The recruitment process is technically good and well-structured in its early stages. * The initial assessment consisted of a HackerRank technical evaluation with a programming exercise focused on performance, object-oriented design, and three SQL questions, which felt relevant and fair. * This was followed by a technical interview discussing the assessment results and deeper system/design topics. * I also had a hiring manager interview and a technical leadership interview, both of which were professional and engaging. * Throughout most of the process, the recruiter was very responsive, usually replying within 48 hours. Cons: * After completing the final interview, communication abruptly stopped; * I attempted multiple follow-ups via email and phone without receiving any response. * Only after reaching out to one of the technical leaders I had interviewed with did the recruiter reply, stating she would call — but that call never happened, and communication stopped again. * The lack of closure after reaching the final stage felt unprofessional and inconsistent with Adyen’s publicly stated values around transparency, ownership, and respect.
