      I interviewed at Ahold Delhaize

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter for this role. It seemed interesting, so I sent over my resume and quickly got connected with the hiring staff at Peapod. The first interview was great. I spoke with the hiring manager about my experience and learned more about the role. The interview was only scheduled for 30 minutes, but it ended up being over 40 because the interest level on both sides was high and we had a lot to share. The first interview was great. The second interview was where things went south. It was the complete opposite experience. I interviewed with their senior product manager, Mike Sharp, who really only has less than 2 years of PM experience (yet he refers to himself as senior). Not only was he late to the interview by over 5 minutes, but the first thing he begins with is saying how he doesn't think I'm a good fit for the role. He immediately puts me on the defensive and doesn't ask me ANY questions about my background, what I like, what I'm pursuing, or anything. Naturally I told him why I think I'd be a good fit and how it lines up with what I'm looking for. After that he literally mocked me by saying, "according to you, it sounds like you're an expert in everything." I have never interviewed with someone so disrespectful. He didn't seem to refrain from using bad language either. Most good PMs tend to ask situational or conceptual questions that relate to the job's tasks. This is a good interview technique because it gives both parties a feel for how the candidate would fit into the role. But again, he didn't ask anything like that. I could tell he made his decision before he even started the interview, which explains why he was late in the first place, due to lack of interest. Our conversation lasted merely 20 minutes, which is ironic since 2nd rounds are supposed to be longer, and this was half the length of the first. I immediately withdrew my application. No way on Earth I'm working with someone like that. I learned that the company doubled their size and adopted a new internal structure within less than a year. I'm sure they got some bad hires during that expansion. I'd consider working with them in the future if they have more of a structure set in place with decent leadership. However, at the moment their company just seems like a hot mess that I'm relieved I was not tricked into being a part of.

      Question 1

Only got asked a question in the first interview about my background. Second interview had no questions.
