Interview
This was for the first interview via teleconference with 2 professors and 1 Air Force LT Colonel. I first applied for the position on USAJOBs which advertised for someone to teach remote sensing, GIS, military geography, and related courses as well as conduct research in the related domain of the applicant's expertise. I was very disappointed to find out that they were only looking for someone with a specific military geography expertise which I did not really have. The first set of questions asked if I was an expert in this military geography, and if not, then how long until I became a nationally-recognized (top 1 or top 2) researcher on that subject. This shows me several major flaws with this organization: 1) false advertising that wastes both my time and theirs 2) inability to read my resume and see my expertise for themselves 3) total ignorance about academia and research. One does not simply become a nationally-recognized, top expert in something. And further, one cannot guess at how long it will take to become such an expert in something you know hardly anything about! I have spent multiple years researching in my discipline, published more than 20 papers and still would not consider myself a nationally-recognized expert. The interview questions completely caught me by surprise and they could tell that I was highly annoyed by the unprofessionalism and ignorance, so it was no surprise to me that I didn't hear back!

Interview
Telephone interview. I was lied to right from the beginning about travel, pay, relocation expense. I interviewed over the phone as I was living in another state. They wanted me to start immediately and I could not begin until I found a house to buy. I told them I could not start for 30 days. They agreed but then when I started, I was constantly badgered about why I had to buy a house and how they needed to me start immediately and how they had to wait on so-called training until I got there. It was horrible right from the beginning.
