Worst internship recruitment process I've experienced.
4 months after AC, still haven't heard back.
Rude interviewers who were completely unprepared.
Wouldn't recommend applying.
Process:
1) Thrive Online Assessment, 2) Online Interview with an associate, 3) Assessment Centre in London.
Assessment centre includes a 45 minute interview, a group discussion and a technicals written test.
This was probably the worst recruitment process I went through this summer. Took them 3 months to send out first round interview invitations. My interviewer was completely unprepared and seemed to just ask random technical questions that they could come up with on the spot to fill in the time duration of the interview. I asked a few questions about the technical questions they had posed and the interviewer didn't seem to know the answer to their own technical questions.
I received an AC invite 1 month after my first round interview. The whole day felt unprepared. They seemed to just leave all applicants in a room by themselves all day and expect applicants to make their own way to different meeting rooms for their interviews. Also worth noting there was around 30 AC attendees for presumably <5 places. Which seems harsh to waste the time of so many people.
Here is the main issues with the AC:
1) The technical written test was the same as the prior year. Giving applicants who knew last years applicants a significant advantage.
2) Unprepared and inconsistent interviews. Some attendees received an hour long technical only interview where they were asked no behavioural or background questions. I received a 25 minute CV based interview with no technicals. They need to work on ensuring all applicants are given the opportunity to equally showcase their background and knowledge.
3) The group discussion was based on a document about 2 banks which was given during the technical test. Presumably during the test you were supposed to look at this document and take notes to use in the later discussion. My group was never told we wouldn't receive the document in the group discussion. This meant those of us who wrote notes within the document, didn't get our notes back and those who didn't read it during the technical test, had no knowledge of the discussion topic.
It is now 8 months since I applied and 3 months since my AC, I've spoken to other candidates since the AC and not one of us has heard back. They stated at the AC, we'd hear back within 2 weeks. (obviously offer receivers have heard back).
