The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AllianceBernstein (Philadelphia, PA) in June 2011
Interview
I have 22 years experience in financial services and did not think Bernstein was a fit but a recruiter suggested I meet them anyway. After meeting with the Managing Director twice I was moved through the process to the hiring manager after taking a personality sales test. The hiring manager was extremely tough and made me tell my history going back to HS, ridiculous, and proceeded with a description of every position I've had in the industry. Bernstein does not want anyone that they can't brainwash into their system of selling which is very proprietary, not an independent or objective approach. They prefer to hire outsiders as opposed to financial service insiders so they can train them into the Bernstein system. The hiring manager did not like being questioned about losses in 2008 and or assets leaving to more independent firms. If you are in sales from a different industry and want to get into wealth management this could be a good fit but otherwise industry advisors with an independent objective approach should stay away.
