I applied in-person. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Allison Transmission in July 2020
Interview
Very drawn out and very unprofessional experience. From start to finish it was about 4 months time. Started off with a recruiter reaching out to me, got some initial information about the position and then provided some background information about my career. Put together a slide show presentation that the hiring manager requested and sent it off to the recruiter.
3-4 weeks pass, didn’t hear from the recruiter. Left several voicemails. Before I could even get my voicemail complete for the second or third time I get a text from the recruiter saying sorry they are going to interview internally.
4-6 more weeks pass and the recruiter reaches out to me again saying they didn’t like any of the internal candidates and the hiring manager wants to go external again. So I go in for the initial interview. All parties thought it went well and I heard at the end of the week they want round two of interviews. I get my second interview scheduled about 2 weeks later. That round was tougher but still had positive feedback. After I get the feed back the recruiter says the hiring team is going to take 3-4 more weeks to decide.
4-5 weeks pass. No word from the recruiter. Sent a text checking in after 4 weeks. No response. Make a call a week later and left a voicemail to check on the status. Within 5 minutes of the voicemail the recruiter emails me saying that they decided to go another direction based on the fact the hiring manager didn’t fee I was prepared for the questions. I mean it’s an interview how am I suppose to know what is going to be asked? But if I was interested in other positions at Allison’s he would be in touch. I told the recruiter I’m not interested with anything at Allison’s and not to waste my time again.
The recruiter never once answered my calls and was cowardly avoided talking to me directly. Incredibly unprofessional on how everything was handled. It was 4 months of my life I will never get back. Zero communication and feedback. I would highly recommend avoided Allison’s as they don’t have a candidates best interest or best interest of their employees.
