      Associate Interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AlphaSights (New York, NY) in June 2016

      Interview

Applied online, heard next day that they wanted me to do an Video Assessment. I waited about 5 days, did the video assessment that had very standard interview questions-- make sure you know what the company does and WHY you want to do that. After two days, I got a request for a skype interview... did the skype interview, standard questions, went well... two days later they asked for an in person interview. The in person case study is pretty easy-- pick 2 of 3 case studies, think of what executives or people would be relevant for that case-- (example: a company wants to improve its supply chain management for coffee... who would be a good expert to speak to in order to get some advice-- use linkedin or some other website to find. And i dunno a former supply chain manager at Starbucks! Wow, brilliant job! ). Then they go over what you did well, what could have been better. One thing that got me was what kind of value AlphaSights had to offer beyond the cash element to an industry expert. I truly I had no good idea why an expert would be interested in working with such a company if the money wasn't an element, and the goodness of helping/lending advice/expertise isn't the motivation either. The director interview is where I botched it. He was a great interviewer with questions that aren't typically asked at interviews and actually made you think. For example, what is something your coworkers would consistently describe you as, but you don't feel is an accurate portrayal of your actual personality/approach to the workplace? Ultimately you need to know what the company does, yes, that's pretty easy to figure out. But you need to know WHY YOU WANT TO DO THAT. I don't have any kind of background or interest in the sales element and was far more interested in the research element which is about 5% of the job. You need to have a convincing claim as to why you want to essentially be in sales for two years. My answer was not convincing as I ultimately do NOT have an interest in being a salesperson for two years. Good luck!

      Question 2

What are ALL the kinds of jobs you have applied to? Put AlphaSights aside, what would you pick if you got all of them? (make sure your "dream" job is remotely related to what AlphaSights does, lol)

      Interview

Interview process was ok, several stages and language test as it was a particular language speaking role, only downside really was very little feedback given at the end when not successful. When I asked for a feedback call as to why I wasn’t successful they didn’t answer my question and it was a 2 mins call saying that I was just unsuccessful.
