I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Alpine Data Labs (San Francisco, CA) in May 2016
Interview
I was contacted by email to schedule a call. They called on time. I talked to the lead tech in the department. He said after the call, there would be an on-site process that would take 4 hours, meeting with 4 different teams. After that, they would talk amongst themselves and make a decisions, without further process. (I didn't make it that far -- changing careers.)
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me to rate my experience with Linux, and were interested mostly in skills (over my experience not directly related to the tools.)

Interview
I had two phone interview with them. They asked algorithmic questions on the fly and sometimes without clear explanation. Every time that I answered a question, they asked a harder question. One of the interviewers asked a question about a multi threaded system and it was clear that he has not any experience with such systems. He also asked me some questions about Scala syntax. They sent the rejection two hours after second interview. The rejection was sent from a no-reply email account. It was rude and not professional.

Question 1

Thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you were unhappy with the interview process. At Alpine we strive to treat all job candidates with respect and hope the experience is useful even when an offer is not extended. We appreciate you pointing out the no-reply email account; this was a system error that has since been fixed.
Best of luck with your job search!
