Application
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Altana AI (New York, NY) in Mar 2022
Interview
Phone screen, followed by a substantial take-home project with a follow-up review session.
After receiving positive feedback from both interviewers, I was suddenly and unceremoniously dropped out of the running. There was no communication about why my application was no longer being considered.
Regular intro interview with an engineer, then given a take home project to go over with another engineer. Got very little feedback on the project altogether but suddenly got ghosted afterwards. Highly unprofessional to ask someone to commit upwards of four hours for consideration only to never communicate with them again. Would not recommend if you value your time or want a company that prioritizes its candidates’ time.

Question 1
How could you improve the performance of your system?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Altana AI (New York, NY) in Oct 2021
Interview
Process: Phone screen, followed by a take home project, followed by a panel interview.
The initial phone screen was nice; I got to know about the role and the team. By the end, I was super excited about the company and the challenges they were trying to solve.
But the take home was too onerous requiring a fair amount of time to do a good job. For candidates in interview processes with other companies and possibly other offers, choosing not to move forward becomes an easy decision.
Sincere advice to engineering leadership: the take home is not appropriate for experienced candidates. If you really have to screen out candidates, do a hackerrank, live coding session, whiteboard session instead.
