I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Ambient Property Technologies in July 2025
Interview
1- Initial call with recruiter (Raul Sierra)
>> I was rejected at this stage. No feedback, not answering emails.
(2 weeks later)
>> I was re-accepted because they 'changed the role description' (even though the JD is the same)
2- Interview with CTO (dealing with conflicts, etc)
>> I was rejected again. No feedback, not answering emails.
3- Interview with engineers (tech talk)
4- Cross functional interview (Product, QA, or Mobile)
5- Craft Presentation (give a topic, create presentation with 2-3 slides, event driven system, having a conversation about it)
Basic HR interview, few simple questions
Had a hiring manager interview, very nice person asking my previous experiences.
Made 1 live code interview. The interviewer was looking to another screen during the interview, I felt like I was talking to a wall. Questions
- Given a list of files in a file system, print them with identation, for each directory
- First non-repeated char in a word
Simple take home assessment.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Ambient Property Technologies (New York, NY) in Feb 2025
Interview
The interview process felt more conversational (as opposed to the typical "solve these Leetcode puzzles" approach). There was a take-home project followed by a follow-up conversation with one of the Engineers. Thankfully, I felt the take-home project was of acceptable time expenditure (about 2–3 hours). I appreciated that the interview focused more on assessing "can this person do the job?" and "will this person fit in?" For all the interview rounds (system design, live coding, hiring manager), I felt the questions were all quite reasonable: plausible scenarios and problem scope for smart home company. I also had ample time to learn more about the company. Overall, the experience was quite pleasant - really nice people whom I’d have loved to work with (they definitely passed the vibe check)!
