      Full Stack Developer (React/Nodejs) Interview

      13 Sept 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      São Paulo, São Paulo
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ambush (São Paulo, São Paulo) in Sept 2024

      Interview

Beware of Ambush's Deceptive Hiring Process I went through Ambush's entire selective process, which consisted of three stages: an initial HR screening, a technical interview, and a final technical interview with the manager present. In every stage, I excelled, receiving compliments for answering all the questions correctly. After completing all the interviews, I was told to await the final decision. And this is where things took a turn for the worse. Initially, HR confirmed that I had done exceptionally well in the interviews, that my profile was a great fit, and they were excited to proceed. However, they suddenly mentioned they needed to renegotiate the previously agreed-upon salary, which was already within their budget. I agreed to hear them out, only for HR to disappear without a trace for two days, with no updates or answers. When they finally resurfaced, they presented me with a bizarre list of "mistakes" I allegedly made during the technical interviews—errors that were simply impossible. Not only had I mastered the subjects in question, but the list of “mistakes” even included references to books I’ve already studied in-depth! It was clear they were scrambling to justify their decision to slash the salary offer by $2K/month. It felt like they regretted offering a fair salary and needed to concoct a reason to backtrack. They didn’t negotiate in good faith, and their behavior after the interviews was completely unprofessional. This is not a company that values honesty or integrity in its hiring process. I have recordings of the meetings and reviewed them carefully before writing this review. Proceed with caution when dealing with Ambush.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. At Ambush, we value transparency and respect in our hiring process and are disappointed to hear that your experience didn't meet your expectations. However, we're concerned that your review contains several inaccuracies that could mislead other candidates. You specifically mentioned being promised a specific salary before the interview process, which is not consistent with our company practices. Like most companies, we determine compensation after the interview process when we have a better understanding of a candidate's skills and experience. This allows us to make fair and competitive offers to everyone. It's also important to highlight the positive experience you described, detailing our highly engaged and thorough interview process with consistent feedback throughout. This reflects our commitment to providing every applicant with individualized attention and a constructive experience. Unlike many companies that "ghost" applicants or provide no constructive feedback, we have invested significant time and resources into our hiring process for nearly a decade. We believe each person deserves to feel valued and respected, regardless of the outcome. As a company built by people who were simply looking for a place to grow, be valued, and make an impact, we understand the importance of a supportive and transparent environment, and we strive to create that for everyone who interacts with Ambush. We deeply appreciate platforms like Glassdoor that allow for genuine feedback and encourage candidates to share their truthful perspectives. We believe it's important for reviews to accurately reflect the candidate experience to help both job seekers and companies. We wish you the best in your continued job search.
