I applied online. I interviewed at American City Business Journals in May 2026
Interview
Process: Applied online, completed a pre-interview assessment, then scheduled a 30-minute Teams video call with two interviewers (an Associate Research Director and a Regional Director). The interview itself was well-structured and the interviewers were professional.
Where it fell apart: Zero communication after the interview. One of the interviewers indicated a decision would come within a week. It didn't. No follow-up, no rejection, no acknowledgment. Reached out to the senior director who handled scheduling three weeks post-interview. Never received a response to that either.
Bottom line: Two separate points of contact, two instances of radio silence. If you're considering applying, the role and interviewers seem solid, but expect no closure regardless of outcome. A form rejection would have been appreciated.

Interview
Applied, within days got an interview request, met with the Advertising Manager, was asked to meet with the Publisher as a final interview, and met with them the following week. All was paced well. Publisher said an offer would be made the following week. The offer (or a decline) was NOT made in that timeframe, nor the next week. Given the pace of the interviews and smaller office, that seemed off to me. The base salary for an experienced salesperson seemed low, and no meaningful detail was provided on OTE compensation. It made me lose excitement pretty quickly, especially when I didn't hear anything in the meantime.

Interview
Really smooth interview process. Everyone was super nice and easy to talk to. I spent around two hours there and really got a feel of the environment, culture, and day to day.
