I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Holt (Norwood, MA) in Mar 2018
Interview
I actually interviewed for this company on two occasions, so I will describe them in chronological order:
-----
Out of college I applied for a mechanical engineering position at the company through a job board posing, and also sent an email to an employee there. I was contacted by the hiring manager a week and a half later to set up an in person interview. For the interview I met with the hiring manager and the head of engineering. The interview was a standard discussion of my skills and experience, and afterwards I was given a tour of the building. I was told I would be contacted in approximately 2 weeks if I was selected for a second interview.
Three weeks later I was asked to come in for a second interview. I was told that the position had changed slightly since my last interview and I confirmed my continued interest in the position. This time I met with the hiring manager, head of engineering, and president of the company. I was also given a Solidworks evaluation where I was supplied a physical part along with some calipers and I had to create a solid model and a drawing of the part.
About a week later I was contacted by the VP of HR and was given an offer. I had just been given an offer from another company as well, and ended up declining the offer from American Holt.

Two years later I applied to the company again for a Machine Design Engineer job. I applied through a job board and sent emails to some people from the previous session. Three weeks later, after doing some followups, I was contacted by the VP of HR for a phone interview. The interview was a recap of my skills and experience and a discussion of why I was serious about applying for this position.
Following up a week later I was invited for an in person interview. My session was scheduled to be 45min but ended up going a bit over. The interview was mostly between myself, the hiring manager, and the HR VP, but the president and the owner also dropped in for a short while, all of whom were very friendly. The interview was a discussion of my skills and experience in relation to the job, and why I thought this was a good fit for me, given the fact that I had applied for a slightly different job previously. I was also given various samples of parts that the company makes and asked how I thought they were produced, or which features compounded tolerance stack. At the end I was given a tour of the building which had been updated since I had last been there. I also understand that there were three other candidates interviewing for the position that same day.
The in person interview was on a Friday and on the following Monday I was told that I and another person had been selected for the position. Afterwards was a background check and reference contacting . The last step was a signed offer letter.

Interview
Showed up for the interview and the people working there seemed unprepared for it. There were multiple interviews going on while I was there, and I had to wait 10-15 minutes while they finished up a prior interview. I originally was told I would be interviewing with the engineering manager, but he was in an interview with a different candidate. I was asked a few technical questions, but almost nothing about my background and education. Overall, it was a bizarre interview experience.

Interview
Phone screening with recruiter was non technical. Basic questions and nothing too complicated. Face to face interview involved a drawing test. The item was simple but there wasn't much time to really detail it. All interviewers were professional and seemed to know their stuff. They use SolidWorks for cad modeling.
