The process took roughly 5 weeks. I got an email from HR inviting me to participate in a first round interview. This interview was 2 hours long and was in person at their facility in Commerce. It is located directly next to the Citadel Outlets. Parking was easy. Before the first interview I was asked to arrive early to fill out a paper application, which I found to be a little old school, but I filled it out, nevertheless. I interviewed with two members of the team individually. They were nice, the questions weren't too hard, and you could tell they were passionate about the company.
I got invited back for a second interview a week and a half later, which was also in person. This time the interview started 30 minutes late, but same as before I met with two other members of the team. When I asked them what their expectations were of the person in this role, they could not give me a definitive answer and informed me that they would have to discuss internally what the details are for the job description of this role. Once they were aligned as team, they would then email me the official description and allow me to then decide if I was still interested in the position. So, needless to say, I left the interview feeling pretty confident that I was the top contender for the job.
I heard back from them about 2 weeks later letting me know they were in the process of making final decisions and they wanted me to send them why I was the best candidate for the role and if I was still interested in the position (mind you, they never sent me the official job description). I personally found that to be extra and unnecessary, but I had my sights on the position and really wanted to work for the company. Reluctantly, I responded letting them know that I was more than interested in joining the organization and how I stood out compared to other candidates. About a week later I was informed that not only did I not get the job, but they decided to put the position on hold.
Not only was this disappointing, but a complete waste of time. It is one thing to not get a job because another candidate was stronger. It is another to not get a job because the role no longer exists. I wish they would have had their ducks in a row prior to having an inconvenient and lengthy interview process. It is just blatantly disrespectful and shows they have a complete disregard for their candidates' time and efforts. This job market is already tough and difficult, and my experience interviewing with this company is a testament to that. To add insult to injury, I just saw that they posted a position looking for a PR Coordinator, so that just felt like a slap in the face.
