      Data Engineer Interview

      2 Aug 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Andersen Lab in June 2023

      Interview

Typical outsource/outstaff middle-grade company, it was clearly a mistake starting the process with them. They reached me 2 months ago intending to hire a specialist ASAP but in fact, they didn't even have a contract with the client. #1 interview: screening #2 interview (1 week later): tech interview, absolutely nailed it - here they sent me a pre-offer with the salary numbers and other conditions, and we signed it up, but it, in fact, means nothing to them (and so shouldn't mean anything to you either). #3 interview (2 weeks later): prep for an interview with the client #4 client interview (3 weeks later): tech interview with the client, also nailed it And after another 2 weeks, they simply rejected me for weird reasons like "he had no experience with 'tech'" although my CV states exactly the opposite and no one asked me about it during the interview". This makes me think that it was simply a culture-fit reason or they found someone cheaper. Then they tried to convince the client company to hire me (which is a great move ngl) but the decision was final. So be ready to waste two months+ of your time because: 1) you can't even be sure that they signed the contract on the position with the client company 2) they will never give you proper feedback for self-improvement 3) they will never share the actual state of things in the hiring process with you 4) the pre-offer they require you to sign before you even understand the name of the client company, what the project is actually about, and what the client company is actually doing (they said it's NDA) Finally, the position itself was titled "Data Engineer" but the client company, based on the questions during the last interview, looked for a "BI engineer", which shows the miscommunication between Andersen and the actual customer. Believe me, outsourcing/outstaffing companies are only good for a career start. Don't waste your time here and look for product companies without intermediaries that cut a portion of your salary just for being between you and the client company.

We understand the importance of a transparent recruitment process, and we want to clarify that the negative feedback you provided does not reflect our overall practices. Specifically, inaccurate feedback related to contracting with the client, non-compliance with pre-offer agreements, assessment of technical knowledge, and communication with the client is not accurate. We're sorry that you could not show the expertise the client was looking for in this position and that you received detailed feedback on this. However, we believe that constructive feedback is important for all our candidates, and we provided you with adequate and timely feedback on the outcome of your interview. We believe that outsourcing is a great workplace for employee success and development, and we offer several benefits to our employees. These benefits include: intensive in-depth programmes designed by experienced technical experts to help you master the most advanced technologies in the IT industry; a team of experienced mentors with innovative IT projects in their background; the opportunity to move between projects to broaden your experience, skills, and career horizons; the chance to expand your skills professionally and reach new heights in your career.
