      Systems Administrator Interview

      15 Oct 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at AppDirect

      Interview

Received verbal offer, no I didn't, yes I did, no I didn't. After sending in my resume, I received a call two days later from their 20-something in-house recruiter on a Friday. At the end of the call, I received an invitation for an onsite interview the following Monday. Came in and spoke with recruiter, then hiring manager, and lastly one of the co-founders. All went well. After the last interview, co-founder adds another person to the interview loop. Turns out the new person was one of the two 20-something co-CEOs (and founders). Very wired. I liked his energy. He said that he had only 10 minutes but the conversation lasted an hour. Great talk. Afterwards I see the recruiter again and she makes a verbal offer and informs me that I'll receive an email the next morning with the details. A bit surprised with an offer on the first day but she said that everyone liked me. She asked that I start the following Monday. I had plans to take a trip and wanted to push back the start date but I accommodate and agree. Next morning the email arrives but there's no offer details. Instead, she says the other 20-something co-CEO (another co-founder) would like to interview me also. Does this mean the original verbal offer is off the table? Don't know. I come in the next day and have a quick word with the recruiter. She says the meeting with the co-CEO should be no more than 10 minutes long. I meet him and he goes over resume in minute detail. This is going to take longer than 10 minutes at this rate. He interrupts me constantly. Keeps apologizing for doing so, saying he has short attention span but in the end, he indicates all is good and that the recruiter will follow-up with hiring details. Finished by noon. I waited all afternoon but with no follow-up I sent an email to recruiter near 5pm requesting info and indicating that I can start on the following Monday. Next day still no response so I called the recruiter in the afternoon. Immediately her tone indicates that something has changed. She tells me no, without really telling me no. Her explanation was long winded. I interrupt her and ask, "What you're telling me is that you guys have changed your minds?" She confirms. End result, it's a no but asks me to ping them in about a month. Some of their core values include "Integrity" and "Communication - removing doubt."
