Started with a 15 minute phone interview with hiring manager to go over experience then a home assignment with 3 days to complete, followed by a one hour onsite technical interview with the hiring manager.
The experience was mixed. The recruiter I communicated with was excellent. She was very accommodating with scheduling and clear in her communication throughout, which made the process much smoother.
My experience with the hiring manager was more challenging. While he was pleasant to speak with, it felt like the role and its scope hadn’t been fully defined yet. The expectations around experience didn’t match the job description posted. During the phone interview it was understood that this role and team will be writing ZERO code then during the onsite interview it became clear that the ideal candidate was expected to have significant developer experience. That wasn’t communicated upfront and felt misaligned with both the role itself and the compensation.
Overall, the lack of clarity around what the team was truly looking for made the experience disappointing. Clearer alignment on the role and expectations earlier in the process would have made it a much better.
