      Ruby On Rails Developer Interview

      31 May 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Little Rock, AR
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Apptegy (Little Rock, AR)

      Interview

I had two interviews with Apptegy, They said I didn't have enough experience they wanted to hire someone out of a bootcamp or college. I have over 5 years of professional experience and have been writing code since I was eleven. I wasn't given any type of coding or problem solving challenges to gauge my actual ability. They even said they didn't believe in sitting down and writing code to test ones ability (which seems silly.) I was asked a little about Github. I am pretty sure I wasn't hired because I don't have a degree in Computer Science. When asked about my degree they seemed very displeased. The kid I interviewed with even seemed to have an elitist attitude for graduating from Hendrix. I think they equate ones coding and problem solving ability to having something on paper rather than having passion and actual ability.
