I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Arine (New York, NY) in May 2026
Interview
I was completely turned off by the company in the initial Hiring Manager screening call. The experience was insensitive and rude. In typical fashion, a recruiter reaches out and describes the company and ask if you would like to consider the company. The recruiter experience was wonderful. The conversation with the Hiring Manager was just abysmal. The conversation starts with your typical pleasantries. When I mentioned I was affected by current layoffs the interview plunged over a cliff. The response I got was "So when was the last time you coded?". Not the response I'd expect a human to respond with. My perception of the company is one that values humans as automata that work along their AI workflows. Future applicants, please be weary of disclosing your employment status.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your interview experience did not meet your expectations.
At Arine, we strive to create a respectful and positive experience for every candidate. While our interviews often focus on understanding a candidate's recent technical experience and how it aligns with the role, we recognize that the way questions are asked and received matters just as much as the questions themselves.
We appreciate your kind words about your experience with our recruiter and are disappointed that the hiring manager conversation left a different impression. We take candidate feedback seriously and will use it as an opportunity to reflect on and improve our interview process.
We wish you the best in your job search and future opportunities.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Arine in July 2022
Interview
First round to discuss your experience and ask questions about the company.
Second round was a 90 minute live coding interview manipulating data (objects, arrays, nothing crazy) to solve a business problem. Did not progress past the second round.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Solve a business problem using object / array data manipulation
Thank you for taking the time to share your interview experience. We’re glad to hear that the initial conversation provided a helpful overview of your background and our company. Our second-round live coding assessment is designed to mirror real-world problem-solving, and we appreciate the effort you put into working through it.
We value your feedback and the time you invested in the process. Wishing you all the best in your continued search.
