I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Army National Guard (Baltimore, MD) in Jan 2011
Interview
Interview was exciting as it prepared me for the entering of a 6 year contract with the Army National Guard. The recruiting officer was great and I'm still friends with him to this day. Without him, I would have never joined the Army (especially after finding out about the practices).

First you have a phone interview to make sure that you qualify, including height/weight ratio, criminal background history, medical conditions, etc.. Then you take the ASVAB.

Basically, you go into the recruiter's office and go over some of the basics on what their needs are and what you are interested in. You will then schedule to take the ASVAB, and depending on how that goes, you can choose your MOS. You go to MEPS to get cleared physically and then ship off to BCT.

All you do is take a test. If you pass the test then they will ask you to pick a job. If you don't really know what you like to do then figure it out before you pick a job or you will be miserable. Unlike a normal job you cannot quit until your contract is up. So yeah definitely take your time picking a job or else you will regret it. If you do pick a job you hate then you'll know what not to do in the future. Just try to make a better move the next time.
