I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Artera (Budapest) in July 2024
Interview
There was a preliminary interview with an Engineering Manager in Hungary, basically about the job details, high level requirements, target salary range, etc. This was followed by a very short interview with a US HR representative, with an introduction and general questions. There was another round with the same Hungarian EM and a senior engineer. Mostly about my previous jobs and tasks, also a few short questions on various topics. Finally, there were two rounds of technical interviews. The first one was a TypeScript coding challenge focusing on algorithms (binary tree comparison, fixing a broken logic, etc.). The second one was a high-level system design round that required some homework and then a live presentation.

What were the most recent books that you have read that are related to your profession?

Interview
The first interview was conducted by a US based HR representative who was surprisingly prepared. She seemed to be passionate, engaging and very nice to talk to. She made me feel comfortable and valued me as a candidate.
Happily, she gave a positive feedback and scheduled a second round already for the next day.
On this second round however I was interviewed by two Hungarian representatives, and did not have the same feeling after. The male interviewer showed continuously arrogant facial and verbal expressions regardless of what I said. This behavior seemed to be unprofessional and made me feel judged. The female interviewer joined late to the interview unprepared which again felt unprofessional.
I did not receive an offer, which I would mind as they are known about high wages, but not after this experience.

Question 1
What literature did you read last time on the topic of your profession which you finished too.

Interview
You have to do a leetcode task live while two interviewers are watching. The task itself wasn't too complicated but the situation is not pleasant at all. If you get stuck even for just 1-2 minutes they will ask why did you stop and don't really let you think it through. The whole interview felt like they were expecting the task to be solved basically in an instant without any errors or mistakes. Very unpleasant experience overall.
