      Product Marketing Interview

      21 Oct 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Asana in Sept 2021

      Interview

Was contacted by HR for a first interview which went well. Got told that other candidates were already advanced in the process so I was quickly booked for the 2nd interview with the hiring manager on the same day - I had to take a late call UK time as the manager was based out of the US but was fine with that as we were "time pressured". Fast forward to over 3 weeks later, I had still not heard back so I sent an email to HR. No answer. After a few days, I received a basic template email from HR saying that my application had not been selected. No explanation, no apologies for the delay in response, nothing. I replied to the HR person saying that I was disappointed with the experience, and haven't received a reply. Waste of my time, disrespectful and terrible experience.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Asana (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2019

      Interview

It was a fairly quick process after an application online I met with the hiring manager via phone and then he came in to meet the team. I would say overall the process seemed positive however the negativity came in terms of the feedback. It’s always very subjective in terms of how to give feedback to a candidate particularly if you’re not giving them a green light. I also find it amusing how quickly companies can assess a candidate in a 90 minute conversation.

      Product Marketing Interview

      29 Nov 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Asana (San Francisco, CA) in May 2017

      Interview

Initial phone interview with HR, then 3-4 back-to-back interviews at Asana HQ. After, they asked for the completion of a piece on a given prompt and writing samples. Everyone at Asana is extremely friendly, and I would've had a good experience; however, after asking for the submission of the writing samples and the prompted article, HR did not contact me for weeks after, so I sort of assumed that they'd rejected me. Then, a few weeks later, they emailed me to say that since I did not respond to their emails, they would move on to other candidates and wanted my address for a thank you gift. I scoured my inbox to check for the emails, but never found any, and when I expressed that, there was no reply. I appreciate the gift but would've rather had clearer and more prompt communication with HR. It was great until that last point of the interview process; if email wasn't working, I would've appreciated a phone call. So, I guess the moral of the story is: check in often with HR if they go silent, and don't assume that you're silently rejected. Always get confirmation! :)

Thank you for taking the time to share feedback from your experience with us. We're saddened to hear that your experience turned negative towards the end, and feel like this was potentially a big mistake on our behalf. We'd like to learn from your experience and improve our process, so if you'd be willing to, we invite you to reach out to our Head of Recruiting, Kayla, to continue the conversation (kaylavatalaro@asana.com). We know that interviewing is a huge time commitment and we value our candidates' time greatly, and we're sorry that you didn't experience this sentiment. We hope to continue the conversation soon, and if not, wish you the best in your future endeavors.
