I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Astranis (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2022
Interview
The interview process consisted of 3 rounds: an initial technical screen covering mechanical engineering fundamentals, a resume review with a senior engineer / team lead that does a deep dive into past experience, and a final onsite interview where you give technical presentations as well as multiple followup 1:1s with engineers on the team. The technical presentation is split into two halves, one in which you present on a personal project and another in which you present on a specific design project that Astranis provides. Across almost all of the interviews, they try to push you to your technical limit and understand where the edge of your knowledge lies. The takehome project is somewhat open ended and isn't necessarily supposed to be perfectly "solved" in one go, but rather is meant to bring out all the different aspects you consider in a design and how you compromise between various design requirements. The interviewers are kind and encouraging, and most of the process felt cooperative rather than you versus them. That being said, the bar at Astranis is high and the interview process was more demanding than most.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Astranis (San Francisco, CA) in May 2026
Interview
There was a screening with a recruiter and a technical in-depth interview with a team member. The questions ramp up in difficulty for the technical round and some curveballs on satellite questions. Interviews last 45 minutes.
I applied online. I interviewed at Astranis in May 2026
Interview
They are very quick to respond. First interview was with a team member and quickly went over resume and then into technical questions. Next interview was with a team lead where they go more in depth on your resume before asking some technical questions.

Question 1
Design a mount for an antenna off of a satelite. How to find CG of satelite
I was reached out by a recruiter to schedule a 45-minute interview with someone from the team, specifically from whichever specialty you selected in your application. The offer to do an interview came around like 1-1.5 weeks after I submitted my application. The interview is conducted through Google meets and you are asked to show your throughout process on a white board on Coderbyte.

Question 1
How would you design a bracket to connect from an antenna to the satellite base? It was pretty similar to other questions that are listed here but worded and asked differently.
