I applied through the Atlanta Housing Authority’s website for an analyst position. I received an email about 4 weeks later for a screening interview with a recruiter. The email asked when I would be available to discuss my qualifications, etc. I filled out my answers promptly and didn’t hear back for over a week (mind you, I was supposed to have my interview within that time period). I had written them off, and then on a Friday afternoon the recruiter contacted me asking if we could instead have the interview the following week. We scheduled it for a 9am call. The day of the interview, I waited for over 10 minutes for the recruiter’s call. As I was, again, about to write off the interview as a bad experience, the recruiter called me at 9:11 and sounded like she had just woken up. We went through the questions and I seemed like a good match for the position. She asked me about a potential start date and I stated that I wouldn’t be available until x date due to prior obligations as I had stated on the application. She stated that they would need someone sooner. Essentially, I felt like the entire experience I had was extremely unprofessional on their part, my time had been disrespected by the recruiter, and I had wasted my time. I’m sure there are great people at AHA but if you want to hire top talent, maybe do a better job through the recruitment process. I’m now completely uninterested in working for AHA
