Was contacted by a recruiter who got an interview with this place, no phone screening. Usually there's at least one technical phone screen for a legitimate IT position. It was questionable but I figured maybe they really liked me. When I got there I was handed an application as if they hadn't even looked at my resume, even though they knew I was travelling over 2 hours to get there. The office itself I only counted maybe 20 or so desks and a few offices.
Getting into the place it was like they weren't even expecting an interview honestly. The HR person I was working with at the company took her lunch during the same time she scheduled my interview! I ended up working with someone who knew nothing about me. There was about 15 minutes before I could talk to anyone.
They finally got someone to see me: He was an older guy, maybe a manager or something. The guy seemed to not like me from the start, not sure why really, I dressed the part of the interviewee with full suit.
I think what it comes down to is either two things: 1) People HATE recruiters or 2) This company wants more knowledge for less pay. In this industry there is a direct correlation between how much you know and how much you get paid. When you offer less for more, smart guys will smell the BS and walk away. I would walk away from this place until they realize what people are worth vs what they're offering.
