I contacted a recruiter on LinkedIn. I had an initial phone interview and then had an on site interview about a week later. Ivy Softworks is really great with giving you feedback. Before the interview, they sent me an email that details the whole process. At each stage of the interview Ivy Softworks can give you a thumbs up or a thumbs down. The first interview is just about your background and finding out if you would be a good fit. The second interview is a technical interview. The questions were not too difficult, but I completely misunderstood the second question and couldn't figure out the problem. The interviewers were really helpful and kept trying to help me get to the solution. I would love to work here. The culture and atmosphere was the most welcoming I have encountered. I plan on applying again after I have some time to really work on my skills.

I reached out to the recruiting coordinator via LinkedIn. He put me into contact with one of the recruiters, who followed the same day with an email. After I sent my resume to him, we set up a phone screen for early the next week. The first thing the recruiter said after the phone conversation started was "Whoa, a female programmer! Don't see too many of those!" This really threw me off balance and I could barely speak for the rest of the interview. I was so upset that I don't even remember what we talked about, other than some generic questions about my resume. Regardless, I was told that I was a poor fit for the company and that was that. I am fine with this since I don't want to work for a company with sexist employees anyway.
