**This is a review of the application and interview process with Automox**. In the end, I decided to go with a competing offer, but I still wanted to leave a positive review because it was a really positive and enjoyable experience. Upon submitting my resume, Mark, their technical recruiter, quickly reached out for a chat. I can't say enough good things about Mark! Super impressed by his ability to explain the company and the role, and just in general how professional but also really relaxed, no nonsense and friendly he was throughout the entire process that followed. He quickly got the process going and kept in close touch throughout, which was great. Many other gigs I applied to take weeks to even begin the first step and drag their feet throughout, that wasn't the case here at all. Big thanks Mark! The process was a good mix of a few interviews, including a pair programming session as technical evaluation. I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH how much better this was compared to the LeetCode trick questions many employers send you to complete. I got to actually work through a real problem with the actual members on the team, so we could all gauge each others coding abilities, problem solving and communication styles etc etc. Amazing! Throughout the interviews, my impression of the technical team was great - really friendly, professional and competent people. Their offer was great too. *Very* attractive base comp, great insurance and benefits, and great equity as well. I would have had zero concerns accepting it, but sometimes you get multiple great offers and I decided to gamble on another one. Letting them know I'd gone with a competing offer, there were no bad vibes or hard feelings, but only a super encouraging "best of luck and let us know first thing if for any reason it doesn't work out". Just wow! So yeah, if you see a role you think you'd be a good fit for here, don't hesitate to apply, you won't be disappointed!
