I was asked to complete a home-based assignment/task, which I spent several hours on to ensure it met all the requirements. I submitted the work well before the deadline. Then, complete silence. Despite following up via email a week later, I received absolutely no response—not even a generic "we’ve moved on" message. It is incredibly disappointing to see a company expect candidates to put in hours of free labor for a technical assessment but fail to provide even 30 seconds of courtesy in a reply. Advice to Management Value the time of your applicants. If you are going to ask for a take-home task, you owe the candidate a status update at the very least. Ghosting after a formal assessment is a massive red flag regarding your company culture and internal organization. It leaves a lasting negative impression on the talent pool.
