Standard procedure starts with an application then an assessment consisting of 4 parts and dependent on results its the interview stage. Unfortunately, this constabulary has not adapted their interviewing process to accommodate candidates during COVID-19. All assessments were as they would be in an assessment centre but over Teams; not considering whether or not you have a strong internet connection or if you have difficulty loading pages on the day. The time for the assessments does not differ in any way despite the audio played during tests being crackly or delayed. The assessments were not hard at all just a case of loading pages and finding the answers and the audio playing back correctly. During my assessment one test was skipped meaning we did 3 out of 4. This would have skewed the way results are added and of course would put some people at a disadvantage. It was quite informal and friendly, the leader tried to be accommodating and explained the tests well. Although no offer at this constabulary, I received an offer from another one for the exact same role and had similar tests but the constabulary were flexible enough to adapt to the current climate. I recommend looking at what other constabularies are doing to source the best candidates for the role in times of COVID-19.
