      Software Engineering Intern Interview

      27 Mar 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Axon in Feb 2021

      Interview

Recruiter screen/hackerank, then two rounds of coding interview, with a behavioral component. Interviewers were nice and I wished the process was communicated better. I started out thinking I was interviewing for a PM role, and then it became "PM/SWE" and then "SWE".

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Axon in Jan 2026

      Interview

The interview process itself was overall very positive. I had a recruiter screen, followed by a technical interview, and then a final round that included both a technical and behavioral interview. The questions were of expected difficulty, with the technical questions being moderate to challenging. The interviewers were thoughtful and professional, and I had a good experience speaking with them. The issues arose after I was given an offer. I had requested additional information about team placement and was hoping to find a team based in the location I had originally requested. During this stage, communication and follow-through became difficult. I frequently had to follow up multiple times to receive updates, and there were several instances where I was told I would hear back by the end of the day or week but did not receive a response until I followed up again after that timeframe had passed. This became particularly challenging because I had a deadline from another offer. I communicated that timeline clearly, and at one point I was asked to request an extension from the other company so that additional details (including team placement and the offer letter) could be finalized. However, those materials did not arrive within the extended timeframe, and my deadline ultimately passed without receiving the information needed to evaluate the opportunity. Axon seems like a very exciting company, and the interviewers themselves were great to speak with. However, the communication and timeline management during the offer stage made it difficult to make an informed decision between offers and felt discouraging after an otherwise positive interview experience.
