I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at BB&T (Wilson, NC) in June 2009
Interview
I initially was brought in as a contractor and since they needed the position filled quickly all I did was a phone interview with the manager of the Web Engineering group and a technical phone interview with a few of the engineers. Of course I had to send the recruiter a resume and interview with them on the phone as well. I was hired within a week of the time the recruiter contacted me about the position until I was offered and accepted the position.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BB&T (Raleigh, NC) in May 2019
Interview
Was contacted by the HR recruiter for technology positions. Was told the hiring manager liked my resume and they are very interested during the initial phone screen along with a lot of open ended broken promises. Was told they have the majority of votes for the upcoming potential merger too... Was also told I was put at the top of the list and was set up for a onsite interview 1 week later. Then out of nowhere at the start of the onsite interview HR recruiter tells me he didn't know but that there will be a 3rd interview, wtf?! Also did not offer to pay/reimburse my hotel accommodation for overnight stay in Raleigh NC. HR manager also told me he would expedite things for me and to call me in 2 days to move forward. Interview with the hiring manager and team lead went smooth and ran a little longer than expected. Was told I may have to come in to meet the team later. Seemed they were trying to buy time. Was then ghosted by the HR recruiter, never called me back and completely stopped taking all my calls or returning them after being in contact for over a week. They used me as bait to potentially fill the position for someone else or internally is what it seems. I reached out to the hiring manager a week later and was simply told they are still working thru the process, whatever that means and that HR recruiter will be in touch. Never heard from any of them. Ended up getting a better job a month later, that made an offer the same day! The office was pretty run down inside too, cubes were very old, brown interior color used everywhere, quite dated and gloomy. Would not advise working here, turnover seems very high for the position as well. You will be ghosted too if you don't get the job. According to US governments H1B Visa's public filing info they are filling the level 3 positions from india sponsorship's paying 6 figures even or so. May be why a lot of people are leaving and more vacancies showing up.
