      Sr/Staff Infrastructure Software Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at BNSF Railway (Philadelphia, PA) in Nov 2025

      Interview

I filled out a job application and scheduled a code exam. I was given 80 minutes to solve 2 programming challenges on Codility. The first problem was only difficult because the task literally made no sense and there's nobody available to ask questions for clarification. During my exam, Codility was taking upwards of 30 seconds to build and test my code which really ate into the allotted time and stressed me out. After much trial and error, I somehow managed to get all tests to pass-- still scratching my head over this one. The second problem was more straightforward and I was able to complete it with time to spare. After passing the code exam, I scheduled a phone call with a recruiter. They have a hard requirement to be on-site at Fort Worth, TX for on-boarding and quarterly meetings. I have family commitments which makes it impossible for me to travel so my application ended at this point.
