      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      19 Apr 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at BVNK

      Interview

During the screening call, I was asked for my compensation expectations and provided them transparently. However, when I asked for the role's salary range in return, the company declined to share it at this stage. For me, this lack of reciprocal transparency is a significant red flag. I value an open dialogue regarding compensation from the very first conversation. Also there was this question : - what is your experience with APIs? Asking this to a senior Eng is like asking a professional chef "What is your experience with fire?" It’s so fundamental that the question becomes meaningless without context.
