Question 1
Android Assessment with DS Skills, few questions on top of it and Managerial Round.
Everything went well until they placed a mail letting me know that they decided to not proceed with me after due diligence without any reason.
Never waste your time interviewing with these kind of companies which just sucks your time for nothing and they don't know what they want.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Backbase (Hyderābād) in May 2025
Interview
1st Round:
Initial call with HR — fairly standard screening around background, notice period, expectations, and relocation readiness.
2nd Round:
Technical round with two Android Engineers from the Amsterdam team — this was the highlight of the process. A well-structured discussion covering architecture (MVVM, MVI), modern Android development practices (Jetpack Compose, Kotlin, Coroutines, Flow), and a brief chat on system design and scalability. I felt it went well, and the engineers were respectful and engaging.
3rd Round:
And this is where it ended — unfortunately, without any communication. After what seemed like a strong technical discussion, I didn’t receive any feedback or follow-up for over three weeks. Multiple polite follow-ups sent via email received no response from the recruitment team.
While I understand hiring decisions take time — especially in dynamic markets — the lack of any communication after a multi-stage interview process felt unprofessional and disappointing. Feedback, even if brief or generic, goes a long way in showing respect for the candidate's time and effort.
I genuinely appreciated the interaction with the engineers and had hoped to continue the process. I still think Backbase has a strong technical culture and would gladly reapply in the future if communication processes are improved.
