interview process was pretty straight forward. 1 call, asking basic screen questions, asked to talk about skills and relevant past experience. 2 in person with the hiring manager, asked pretty normal questions.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Balboa Bay Resort (Newport Beach, CA) in Mar 2024
Interview
Interviews were held in a "career fair" setting with multiple people interviewing for various positions at the same time. Complementary coffee, tea, and pastries were offered. Interviews were held by HR representatives and department managers.

Interview
It was not that fact that I was rejected, that is simply a part of life and just a bad fit. I would never fret about rejection. But it was the way Human Resources responded. They send an anonymous email from an ambiguous DNR@companyname.com that says we are moving forward with another client. It was cold. After a very long, very "self-exposing of private information" online application process to complete. It spoke of an organization I feel so blessed to be rejected by. One I would feel unprotected by.
To show even more chill, Human Resources lead hiring decision maker--refused to send my portfolio back to my address. Said I could pick it up. As if I would come on property after such a cold rejection, to pick it up, and have to have another chilly day. I just think warmth is important in a Human Resources department in any well-oiled establishment, especially the front person for any employee recruitment.
Good luck to all applicants in finding comfort in such chilly place in the warm Newport Beach. I would advise to research the many other, much warmer 4 and 5 star resorts on the water and in the dunes and hills in this area. If you want to work somewhere a little friendlier in first impression. First impression and style of communication in a company's recruitment process certainly reflects what life would be like in the job to come, with this department in charge.

Question 1
After submitting a portfolio, I never got an interview. I was told I was overqualified for entry level.
