I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Bandsintown (San Diego, CA) in Oct 2021
Interview
The interview consisted of two interview questions. The first was very easy, and the two employees took me for a beer in-between the two questions. The interview lasted 7 hours, and the beer did not help. It was also not made clear to me that I would be working for Tonefuse, a subsidiary of Bandsintown Group, Inc. and not Bandsintown the app.
I was told by my first manager that their plan was not necessarily to hire the best candidate, but the one who asked for the least. Unfortunately, I checked both boxes.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. Ruby script to convert the colors of electric resistors to ohm values.
2. Program the scoring system for a bowling alley (I was asked to code this in PHP).
A developer who was hired on my team by the "Director of Technologies" (a job title unique to Bandsintown) received a phone screen and a coding competency challenge of any kind was not offered. His failure to perform was blamed on me.... by the person who decided to hire him. He was clearly not qualified.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Bandsintown (San Diego, CA) in Sept 2017
Interview
It started super common, had a very good interview by phone with their Mobile Tech Lead, everything seemed fine. He asked me to do a code challenge by building an app with 3 screens, saving data on core data, making network requests to get data and do one of the screens in objective-c. Which is not a small piece of code to complete, this required a couple days to be done and tested, etc...
I submitted and that was it, I never got any status update. After 1 week I sent an email asking for update, they said they would check the code at the end of the week and get back to me on the next week. Next week came and nothing, I sent another email, they said they still had not gone through and were doing it that week. And never heard back.
It's been a month and no word from them.
I just feel brain raped where they made me do work, I have no idea what they will do with it, and never wanted to follow through.
A simple email saying anything would have been better then asking to code for free and get nothing in return, not even a "thank you, but..."

I applied online. I interviewed at Bandsintown in Jan 2015
Interview
The phone conversation was very straightforward - they asked me to describe what I do currently, and how my skills can be applied to the position. Then they opened up room at the end of the phone interview for questions I had for them.
