I was hired during the summer between my sophomore and junior year of college. I’m a pre-vet student and really only have experience in one teletype job but I do have experience with animals through volunteering. I’ve been struggling getting a job for almost a year, though it’s hard being a full time student and I even had an interview with a different location of banfield but they were only hiring vet assistants and I definitely didn’t have the experience with that. The interview took place in a sort of break room and was asked questions for maybe 10 min; let me just say that I’m really not very good at interviews, I have good answers but I get kinda flustered and nervous. I asked a lot of questions at the end about how they run things, what the shifts are like, how many patients in a day, who’s working at a time, etc. which I think really helped especially to get my personality across in a more relaxed way than questions. She called me the next day and was offered a position! It’s for a brand new location which I think helped too
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Banfield Pet Hospital (Norwalk, CT) in July 2025
Interview
1 in person interview with the practice manager. A few questions about past work experience, knowledge of veterinary field, and what I was looking for in a company. The practice manager explained the company and went over what the training for the position consisted of.
The interview was conducted over video with the lead and manager. It was a very standard interview process with them asking questions about your relevant experience, situational questions, career goals, among others.
