It was easy, I was in the mall, the manager told me they’re hiring because their whole staff quit after the shelter in place temporarily closed the mall location they are located in.
I applied, had a phone interview and got the offer that day, but was not told how much I would get paid and was promised a commission, then later told it’s not commission but a bonus if the store makes its goal. When I asked what is a bonus money or percentage wise. I was told “it depends” I asked the same question in a different way, and was told “ you’ll get a bonus if you make your goal and the store makes a goal, but still didn’t say anything about $ or commission” I got sent the paper work and was asked to sign the offer letter but the hourly $ amount was left blank. I felt this was fishy because every other job offer I’ve ever had had mentioned the compensation.
Lastly before I was hired, I told the manager I had an upcoming Bday, the manager guaranteed I would have the day off, then a phone call 2 days later they said I would have to work on my bday and there’s nothing they could do. I mentioned a trip I had planned because I was guaranteed that day off and they responded with “oh sorry” not that working on my bday would be an issue, but if you guaranteed that day off for me before I signed my paperwork, I had made plans. Overall it put a bad taste in my mouth with the evasive answers, no mention of pay or “bonuses as they call them” it felt sketchy to me.
