The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Bed Bath & Beyond (San Francisco, CA) in July 2009
Interview
Applied about two weeks prior, had forgotten about the application [mass job hunt]. Very surprised to receive a call scheduling an interview. For me, there were two interviews. First was with the HR manager. Easy enough, we bonded really well [she said she liked me]. She gave me a few hints on what to say with the second interview [with the store manager]. I didn't realize the second interview would immediately follow the first.
The second interview was a little more difficult, especially because I essentially answered all the same questions, just with someone who I bonded with less. He worded things somewhat confusingly. At the end of his interview [about a half hour], he kept saying "if you're hired", but told me to show up for orientation the following Monday. I didn't even know if I had been hired, or if this orientation was like a final step in the interview process.
All in all, it was a pretty standard setup. I wore black slacks and a white button up [I was dressed better than the store manager], which the HR manager really appreciated.
Be sure to focus on your desire to keep the customer happy, satisfy the customer. Never say no [a very popular saying of theirs]. If you focus on customer service as your primary goal, then you'll do well.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Describe a situation where you've gone beyond for a customer.
was quick short and simple. Asked how to deal difficult customers and how I delt with the these customers. Basic customer service experience as well. Overall was one of the easiest job interviews.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Bed Bath & Beyond (Ann Arbor, MI)
Interview
When turning in your application they do a 5 minute on the spot interview with a Manger on Duty. Afterwards, they called to arrange a formal interview with the store manager.
