I had applied online for the position and got an email response from their developer on July 1st asking basic questions such as why do you want to work at benzinga and why should we hire you. Had an introductory call next week where we got to know each other and i could as questions about work and technology stack used at benzinga. I was told to solve a programming challenge within a week using react.js and their API. I took around 10 days as i wasn't familiar with react and i had to learn it before working on it. After this point, its been a long struggle to get response from their end. I had submitted my application on July 19th and i got their response on July 25 that my application has been submitted to their dev team for review. I was told that i should hear back from them within a week and after a week i was told that their dev team was out of office and my poc is waiting for their decision.
After this i tried to reach them multiple time to no avail, then on August 23rd i receive an email from another person asking me if i did my code test which i had already submitted a month ago. After this they scheduled an interview call next day. I thought they needed time to review my application?
During the call they weren't asking questions. They wanted someone having experience with their technology stack and i had already mentioned that i didn't have much experience in it. Initially they were ok with it but later they didn't even ask me about anything related to either their or the technologies i am familiar with? They didn't even ask question about my application, react, Django, python or any technology stack that was mentioned in the job profile instead asked 2 3 java based questions?
Even telling me about their decisions took 3 weeks and 2 inquiring mails from my end.
Advice to the team:
Please if you are not interested in the candidate, don't screen them or at least inform them and dont waste their time.
