Written application consists of 8 questions followed by a first round interview with talent acquisition, telephone call, a bunch of questions around motivation, behavioural and technical questions, lasted around 30 mins
I interviewed at Berenberg Bank (London, England) in Mar 2026
Interview
TI HR interview, one motivational question followed by all market related questions. Asked for a stock pitch. Was left on the waiting list for weeks before receiving and automated rejection with no feedback. I prepared pretty extensively so this was disappointing.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Berenberg Bank in Mar 2026
Interview
First round HR was fine and AC motivational interview was standard. Technical Interview was the problem - it was not technical at all (they asked me one technical question and no stock pitch, compared to other candidates who I talked to and were asked 2 stock pitches). Instead I was asked about my engineering background the whole time (which should have only been covered in my motivational interview) and asked me silly questions like what are my opinions on Elon Musk? Then my reason for rejection was not demonstrating my technical skills, despite only being asked one technical question (which I got right!). Advice for future - have the same questions for all candidates in the technical interview.
