I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Biomerics (Salt Lake City, UT) in Dec 2021
Interview
Recruiter reached out to me to inquire about my interest in an Accounting position and to look at their website for any positions that may be of interest. I did that and applied for the Corporate Controller position.
Set an appointment for a specific time and received a phone call an hour earlier. The person conducting my interview didn't understand the time zone differences and called me ahead of schedule by an hour. We are human, so it isn't a big deal but it was bothersome as I was in a meeting at the time of her call and had planned on being available at our scheduled time. The person I spoke with was kind, polite and engaging, but in the spirit of sharing interview experiences. This was mine.
After 11 minutes of conversation she asked if I had my CPA. Which I do not, and that requirement was not part of the position requisition to begin with. Otherwise, I wouldn't have applied. The Accountant position she reached out to me for, isn't in-line with my current level of experience, education or skill-set. Again, I was reached out to regarding an opportunity but ended up having my time wasted due to poor recruiting.
The company however, looks to have some amazing opportunities for growth. I always leave reviews regarding interview experiences for those who are considering an opportunity.
Certainly not a deal breaker by any means, but something to keep in mind when any type of interview is done. It goes both ways.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate you taking the time to do so. At the end of 2021, we had onboarded a new recruiter who was a little greener in the process. Entirely our fault for not ensuring the recruiter wasn't wholly aware of the requirements for the controller position. a CPA is definitely not needed for a controller position at Biomerics. We hope you continue to apply for positions that interest you at Biomerics.
