The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Blackstair (Oak Brook, IL) in Nov 2018
Interview
1 round of HR screen
1 round TPS(technical phone screen)
Onsite---3 rounds of technical, 3 rounds of management.
The atmosphere in this firm is amazing, small tight knit team, makes you feel like everyone knows their stuff and doesn't waste any time. Definitely "NOT A NURSING HOME" . Very considerate during the interview, probably the best office hardware I have ever seen ,40 inch monitors and top floor in the 15 mile radius. Very Nice.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A lot about comp sci basics, data structure, algorithm, threading, socket, system design. Some mathematics, linear algebra and a few brain teasers here and there.
Extensive coverage but mostly easier questions.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Blackstair (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2018
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter who was very excited about the opportunity. After matching my skills with the requirements I was called by the CTO for a tech. phone screen. We spoke about my job experience and moved on questions about multi-threading, synchronization, communication protocols and OS concepts.
After that I was called in for an in-person interview. The interview lasted 4 hours and I met with the entire team 1x1. The technical questions were largely about my background and resume. The entire experience was quite relaxed and the focus was on conversations and not "gotcha" questions. The technical side of questions were about the projects I had worked on, more threading and IPC. I was tested for my ability to explain code and data flow and understand design and architecture. I got a good feeling for everyone's personalities, got answers to questions I had about my role. I was also happy that I was asked what *I* would like to see in an organization such as this. Lunch was a nice touch.
I got an offer soon after. The entire process took about a week to ten days.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Blackstair (Oakbrook Terrace, IL) in Jan 2018
Interview
The interview process was very easy and great. They seemed to be very friendly people, but after the interview they never emailed back or replied to my email regarding the status of my application. I find that very unprofessional and rude.
