      Backend Developer Interview

      22 July 2025

      Ottawa, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at BluWave-ai (Ottawa, ON) in Apr 2025

      Interview

I recently had an interview for a Backend Developer position at this company, and unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst interview experience of my career. From the start, the structure felt unprofessional. The lead interviewer remained silent and appeared to be occupied with other tasks, showing no interest or engagement throughout the interview. Meanwhile, the other interviewer asked questions that were completely unrelated to the job description, focusing heavily on software architecture design rather than backend development skills, which were the core requirement for the role. The worst part, however, was the disrespectful and demeaning behavior of one interviewer. At one point, they told me I would “never finish” my personal project—an unnecessary and cruel remark that had nothing to do with my qualifications or experience. I was shocked and hurt. This comment was not only uncalled for but deeply unprofessional. The experience was so upsetting that I genuinely needed support to work through the emotional impact afterward. An interview should be a mutual exchange of ideas and evaluation—not a place for humiliation or passive disregard. I hope this feedback encourages the company to reflect on how they treat candidates in the future. No one deserves to leave an interview feeling belittled or emotionally harmed.
