I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Boehringer Ingelheim (Ingelheim am Rhein) in Sept 2012
Interview
Highly professional, highly confidential. They definitely replied very quick for being such a company, and for German standards where you might get a negative answer from an online application 5 months after. The final interview was on September (sent my CV on July) and the feeling is that they carefully planned it as they know everyone came from far away, which denotes they are careful with their employees. The whole interview was also very respectful and caring and I believe the HR Department had performed quite fast a really good candidate screening. The department manager was a very serious, deep nice person who just found out that maybe my German back then was not good enough but still sat with me and asked me questions that I felt he really wanted to hear the answers from. Overall one of the few really professional HR experiences in the last 8 years.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Boehringer Ingelheim (Ridgefield, CT)
Interview
It is the most gruesome process, it takes two to four months to finally get on board. The process is long and counter intuitive. There can be several interviews set up in one day or multiple interviews over weeks.
