      Account Manager Interview

      18 June 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Braze (San Francisco, CA) in May 2019

      Interview

A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and I was really excited to interview at Braze. After this initial screen, it was 10 days before I heard any update. However, I was moved to the next round which was a phone call with the hiring manager. I was excited to be moving forward but she was located in New York and I am in California. The recruiters asked me my availability on a Friday afternoon and when I sent the recruiters my availability to talk (even though I specified PT) they scheduled it for ET, which turned out to be absurdly early in the morning on my end. When I clarified the time zones, there was no response as I assume they sent the confirmation then left the office. The call was scheduled for Monday morning so I bit the bullet and took it early. When I spoke to the hiring manager, on the phone she told me that she liked our conversation and wanted to move me forward to the next round, which would be a video conference with her and her manager. Very excited to move forward with Braze, I did end the interview process with other companies I had been speaking with. I sent my thank you emails to the hiring manager and recruiters I had been working with at Braze and did not hear anything back about scheduling the next round. When I hadn't heard back for a week, I sent a follow up message. The interviewers sent over a few times to schedule to talk with them (which is not a good sign for moving forward in my opinion). I responded by saying which times I had free of the times they gave, but they never responded. This happened a couple of times where I would send a follow up, they would send me times to talk, then ignore my email response. Finally, over a month after my interview, I received a generic reject email. All in all, being rejected from a job isn't the worst thing, but it is incredibly disrespectful to tell someone they are moving on to the next round, then give them the runaround for a month before sending a generic reject. The most disrespectful process I have experienced as a candidate on my end, and hoping not to have more like this.

      Application

      I interviewed at Braze (Sydney)

      Interview

Shockingly bad, interviewer was reading off a script and didn't seem to understand the questions they were even asking. You could see their face change when I said particular keywords. They didn't want actual story examples, just looking for words that relate to job.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Braze (Chicago, IL) in Mar 2021

      Interview

The interview process was pretty thorough, but nothing too difficult. I had an initial phone screen with the recruiter, a 30 minute video call with the hiring manager, another 30 minute call with an AE manager, a role play exercise with the hiring manager, and then spoke to the VP of commercial sales and the VP of US Sales. Although I had to meet with a lot of people, all of the interviews were very conversational and they really just want to get to know you. I would say the most challenging part was the role play because I had to present as I would for a renewal call, but it went very smoothly and the hiring manager didn't throw any curveball questions. I just ran it like an introductory/discovery call and asked lots of questions. All in all the process was straightforward, it just took a bit longer than other interviews I've had

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about yourself Why Braze? Why AM? Walk me through your day to day of your current role. What is your biggest strength and how would it help you in the AM role? I closed all of my interviews asking if they had any hesitations about me that I could clear up and they were very receptive to this.
