I was contacted by an external recruiter in December 2022. From there I was introduced to lead UX and we spoke for two months about this position. Each time we spoke I was expecting an interview to see if we were a right match and upon the 4th time it was conveyed I was not in their hiring system and needed to apply through their portal, to which is unusual considering I was in contact with their paid recruiter. This consumed 2 months. Upon entering their system I was contacted by their internal recruiter. Pretty normal conversation. They conveyed they were there as a first contact and shared phone number and encouraged contact with any questions via phone or email. I learned later this was not true and he was entirely unsupportive. For interviews there were 3 rounds with one 1 on 1 with the UX hiring manager. This took about 2 weeks to schedule on their side and 1 week to complete all four interviews. The 3 rounds were with different teams consisting of : UX, ID and ME. All three interviews were enlightening because it became apparent there was no vision at the company, an uphill scramble with self imposed deadlines from upper management that cut corners. From a design standpoint, that’s pretty much the worst thing you can hear. The 1 on 1 interview with the UX hiring manager was very awkward. They were in an open environment and constantly waving and saying hi to employees as they passed. There were many awkward 8+ second moments without any dialogue after answering their questions. So as the hiring process goes, I was told they would decide before the end of their month ( 1 week ). After 2 weeks I contacted the internal recruiter who was supportive for such contact. There was no reply. After an additional 3 weeks I received a very flatly written auto response that they were not moving forward with me. In summary, this took them 5 weeks to reject after 1 week interview. This whole experience lasted over 3 months. I do find it was very cold to be drawn along considering the hiring environment we live in these days. I did interview very well and expected an offer. However, I would have rejected it after learning with their team about the work environment.
