I was contacted for an interview by an HR representative about five days after applying. The 30-minute phone interview felt extremely robotic, as if I were speaking to an AI. The interviewer showed little engagement, clearly reading questions off a list without facilitating a real conversation. After each of my responses, there were awkward silences, and I had to be the one to ask if they wanted me to continue or what to do next. I’m not sure if this was some sort of psychological tactic or they were doing the interview just to match their quota, but either way, I didn’t appreciate it... especially for an internship interview.
